‘Natyamayuri’ Vidushi Supriya Hariprasad is the finest exponent of Bharathanatyam of the new generation trained in Pandanallur style. Being in the field for over 2 ½ decades as learner, performer, guru, choreographer, director, organizer & promoter of arts she has enriched herself with adequate experience & achievements which, one can feel proud of. An engineering graduate with distinction, working for an MNC, she quit the lucrative job for dedicating herself completely to dance.
She is a blend of talent, beauty & intellect & her grace is explicit when she performs. With more than 400 performances to her credit on prominent platforms, she has earned laurels, impressive feedbacks & accolades from the audience & the media. Few of them have been featured on television also.
Her great respect for the Indian art, prompted Supriya to establish ‘Kalamshu Dance and Music institute’, her dream venture, for institutionalizing the learning process & promotion of art. She became its founder director, since its inception. Hundreds of aspirants receive the benefit of her training here.
She is a recipient of ‘Sri Thirbhuvana Prashasti’, ‘Prathibhashri Award’, ‘Sagar Prashasthi’, ‘Aryabhata Award’, ‘Rangashri Award’ etc. She was conferred with the title ‘Natyamayuri’, honoured at a ‘public felicitation’ at Sawai Gandharva hall - Hubli; received ‘letter of honour’ from ‘Delhi Kannadiga’ magazine - New Delhi. She is an accredited artist of Doordarshan, distinguished teacher & examiner for dance exams of KSEE board, Govt of Karnataka, & a proud recipient of Central Govt of India Scholarship for Bharathanatyam. She is associated with a few reputed schools in Bangalore as a dance faculty & in the panel of a few cultural organizations as dance director.
She has developed her own performing group within Kalamshu – Kalamshu troupe – a core team amongst her disciples, which has made inroads in the realm of dance, gaining popularity & widespread appreciation.
She has conceptualized, choreographed & directed several dance dramas & depictions with mythological, classical, contemporary & patriotic themes, all of which, are well received for their choreographic excellence, execution & presentation.
With a view to expand the activities in the service of art field, a ‘Kalamshu Cultural Trust’ has taken shape, with Supriya as managing trustee.
She has extensive field work experience of all aspects of dance requirements & acquaintance with various art forms such as, Kuchipudi, Bhangra, Dandiya, Contemporary and free style dancing. She has also received training in basic Salsa from the Dance Studio Inc. Bangalore.
Under her guidance & mentorship, a new generation artists are being groomed, so as to infuse trust & quality to each aspect of classicism. She is complete, when it comes to dance. She is extremely enlightening to her students, as a guru & a visual delight to her audience, as a performer.
